Cult Toronto retail haunt and burgeoning label Better Gift Shop is working with Nike for the first time, leaning on its street-savvy know-how to give the Air Max Dn8 a Y2K facelift.
Nike’s Dn8 is the newest member of the Air Max family, first released in February as a “go-anywhere, do-anything” silhouette that, for the first time, extends Nike’s Dynamic Air technology to support the full length of the foot.
Built from two air units and eight chambers, the Dn8’s sole is its major selling point - a feature pursued by lead designer Jonathan Kosenick to create a flexible wearing experience defined by greater levels of “bounce” that emphasise all-day comfort.
Already rooted in beloved 2000s Air Max DNA, the Nike Dn8 is put under a microscope by Better Gift Shop, who delve deeper into the golden age of contemporary sportswear for its first-ever Nike collaboration. The silver-based palette features reflective ”etched” overlays and flashes of electric blue, with lenticular tongue branding included by Better Gift Shop to drive home the kinetic design profile of Nike’s Dn8.
The partnership’s special “Revengie” mascot appears on the shoe’s box and insoles before coming to life in plushie form, alongside a co-branded sweatshirt, tee, and cap that make up the supplementary additions to the debut meeting between Nike and Better Gift Shop.
The Better Gift Shop x Nike Air Max Dn8 launches online and in-store via Better Gift Shop on Friday, 13 June.
