Nike and Nigo are wasting no time in dropping the follow-up designs from their ongoing Air Force 3 series after going full “pop” on a vibrant leather pair in October. Now, the duo are back with two fresh takes that quietly speak to the impetus for one of Nigo’s most iconic ventures.
Despite being no longer affiliated with BAPE as a company, Nigo still proudly points to the OG Planet of the Apes film series with the campaign for this latest release, dropping a stylised advert that depicts practical effect primates using the new Air Force 3 as the getaway vehicle for Nigo’s escape from the imaginary planet “Simeyon”.
With two new colourways on the cards, Nike and Nigo have reserved the “Light British Tan” option as a Human Made exclusive that will only be available in Japan (pictured above), whereas the “Baroque Brown” iteration will be more accessible thanks to a global SNKRS release.
Only differing in colour, each pair sports pony hair upper panelling with debossed leather overlays and a corduroy collar, where details borrowed from the debut Nigo x Nike outing reappear on the tongue and heel counters.
The furry upper portions are clear homages to the pre-CGI ape suits worn in the original Planet of the Apes movie series, joined by the iconic title font on the left tongue.
The “Baroque Brown” Nike x Nigo Air Force 3 drops on December 19th via Nike SNKRS.
The “Light British Tan” version is available exclusively via Human Made this Thursday, December 12th.
