Just when you thought Nike had run out of weird and wonderful ways to keep the Air Force 1 alive in 2025, the brand’s metaverse-based subdivision .SWOOSH has unveiled a new pair that flips the “wear-away” design trend completely on its head.

The all-white Air Force 1 has remained a cornerstone of the “ultimate basic sneaker” conversation since the 1990s. This is due to its global, multi-purpose appeal that means a fresh-out-the-box pair is regarded as status symbol amongst certain communities, while others might prefer the charm of more beat-up examples.

With its latest release, Nike appeals to both sides of the argument by offering an Air Force 1 that starts off dirty but becomes cleaner with wear.

In a press release, .SWOOSH appears to take a stance in the clean-versus-dusty debate surrounding Air Force 1s, stating that “the more you wear (the shoe), the more beautiful it becomes.”

This means the scuffs, loose threads and superficially oxidised midsoles on .SWOOSH’s “Dirty Triple White” Air Force 1s will fade, as the shoes actually appear “cleaner” through wear.

The release even comes with its own toothbrush, included by Nike for those eager to “take things into their own hands” and expedite the wear-away process.

Priced at $130 USD, the “Dirty Triple White” Air Force 1 drops exclusively in the US on May 7 via Nike SNKRS.
