Unveiled as part of Kith’s Spring 2025 preview, founder Ronnie Fieg teased two fresh collaborations with New Balance, reinventing the comfort-focused wheels of the 991v2 and 992 to slot into the “muted blue” section of Kith‘s vast New Balance archives.
Arguably two of the most important models New Balance currently has in rotation, the 991v2 and 992 represent the pinnacle of homegrown sneaker craftsmanship across both of New Balance‘s key markets.
Ever since debuting in 2023 with a high-profile Stone Island collaboration, the Made in UK 991v2 has seen countless sell-out releases, including last November’s Madison Square Garden-inspired colourway courtesy of Kith.
While we patiently await the general re-release of core grey, navy and black issues, Kith is joining Joe Freshgoods, who just announced , by exhibiting their own example of colourway mastery.
For his latest work on the New Balance 991v2, Ronnie Fieg is repurposing the fan-favourite “steel blue” colourway that has already featured in past exploits on New Balance’s 990v3 and 992, this time imbuing the premier Made in UK model with the “vintage sportswear” vibes ingrained in Kith’s DNA.
A similar theme is present on the Kith 992, where a palette reminiscent of the sought-after “Pistachio” colourway that featured in Kith collabs on the 990v4 and 993 is used, although supplemented with off white panels and a striking blue midsole tab that pop against the muted base.
Both silhouettes feature “KITH” branding at their respective ankle tabs.
Release information for the Kith x New Balance 991v2 and 992 is currently unknown.
