The latest instalment of Slam Jam’s energetic takeover of Umbro has just gone live, shedding the previous title of “Penalty Culture” to explore a broader fusion of the spirit surrounding football, night and street life in Europe.
It feels like Umbro has only started to get the flowers it deserves until recently, with partners like SlamJam assisting in the brand’s revival through conceptual collections that celebrate the British sportswear brand’s deep heritage within the beautiful game, although redefined to suit an ever-changing streetwear landscape.
The latest SlamJam x Umbro capsule plays on the concept of reinventing the match-day uniforms worn by security by introducing a tactical edge to windbreaker and half-zip sweats, which come in militant shades of black and olive to drive home the overarching subject matter.
The military-inspired reach extends to simple hoodies and tees that bear blacked-out crests, alongside a re-up on the integrated face mask hoodie that caught fire from previous Umbro x SlamJam collections.
A blunt homage to the footballing world can be found with the trio of knee-high socks, which are joined by a a longsleeve training top with laser cut branding and a stark contrast to the security theme with playful graphic tees and hoodies that show a tongue-in-cheek take on a certain subscription based social media platform.
The latest Umbro x SlamJam SS25 collection is available now via SlamJam.com. A second instalment is set to follow on March 18 - stay tuned for official details.
