UPDATE - 13/05/2025:

After kicking off its re-edition collaboration with Takashi Murakami earlier this year, Louis Vuitton is set to drop more playful luxury goods this week, spotlighting the same cherry blossom motif that fuelled the partnership’s cultural impact when LV and Murakami first joined forces in 2003.

While the first chapter of Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami’s 20th anniversary collection focused around the artist’s Superflat Panda and multicoloured monogram pattern, the upcoming release spotlights the Cherry Blossom design, which features across over 40 pieces that infuse Murakami’s pop-art edge into various styles from Louis Vuitton’s coveted range of luxury accessories.

Standouts include the Speedy 25, Capucines Mini, and OnTheGo bags, alongside silk scarves, hefty floral trunks, sneakers, sandals and a specially cased bottle of LV’s “Spell on You” fragrance.

The release will first take place via a pre-launch on the Louis Vuitton website this Friday, March 14.

The collection will then be available through Louis Vuitton boutiques across the globe from March 21.

UPDATE - 03/01/2025:

The long awaited return of Louis Vuitton’s Takashi Murakami collection has finally arrived, with LV making a select number of items available online and in-store as part of a rollout that’s expected to take place over the coming weeks.

Louis Vuitton take shi murakami

The first round of Murakami-designed LV goods consists of the artist’s multicoloured interpretation of the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram pattern, featuring on classics such as the Speedy, Keepall and Neverfull bags, alongside fresh inputs on the Virgil Abloh-designed Louis Vuitton Sneaker and novel accessories like Rollerball Pens, Tool Boxes, Headbands, plus Dog Collars and Leashes.

The initial drop features 100+ items, each blessed with Murakami’s playful touch, ranging in price from $110 USD for a notebook, all the way to $70,000 USD for the Courrier Lozine 110 Hardside Case.

The full collection can be viewed on and is available upon request via online advisors and LV boutiques across the globe.

Paving the way for future genre-bending partnerships with Supreme and Nike, SS03’s LV x Murakami project was a breath of fresh air for the brand and under the direction of Marc Jacobs, core fans and Sunday shoppers alike were exposed to a different side of Louis Vuitton, where signature house styles were reimagined with vibrant colourings and playful motifs such as the cherry blossom or camo “monoflage” prints.

Released during the peak of y2k celebrity culture, the Murakami collection was so well received that Louis Vuitton made pieces available for over 12 years, until the collection was discontinued in 2015.

Announcing the “re-edition” capsule through Instagram, LV posted a short clip showing Murakami’s childlike art style taking over its ubiquitous monogram logo. Apart from announcing the release date of January 1st, 2025, neither party shared any further information about what the collection will actually entail.

Thanks to leaks from @mattd74, we can expect re-editions of fan-favourite bags and accessories, including the Multicolore Monogram Speedy Bags and Character pieces, alongside fresh inputs on skate decks and the Virgil Abloh designed LV Trainer.

Expect more official information to surface in the coming weeks.
